Ra'anana is car-friendly, but you can live here without a car. It has two train stations on the Sharon line, a big bus terminal by Ra'anana Junction and frequent buses to Tel Aviv. Line numbers and trip counts below come from the national timetable (GTFS) for Wednesday 7 October 2026 (Open Bus / Ministry of Transport data (opens in a new tab)). Timetables change, so check a journey planner before you travel.
Trains
Both stations opened on 3 July 2018 (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)):
- Ra'anana West, on Derech Yerushalayim near Lev HaPark (listing).
- Ra'anana South, inside the Highway 4/531 interchange next to the bus terminal (listing).
On the sample weekday each station had about 108 train departures (both directions together), from about 05:19 to 00:41. Destinations by number of trains: Herzliya (53), Be'er Sheva Center (29), Rishon LeZion - Moshe Dayan (12), Ashdod Ad Halom (8), Ashkelon (6). Trains to Herzliya end there; the others run on south through Tel Aviv. Timetables and seat reservations: Israel Railways (opens in a new tab).
Buses
Metropoline runs almost all of Ra'anana's buses (about 97% of stop calls). The main hub is the Ra'anana terminal (Masof Ra'anana) at Ra'anana Junction, on the Kfar Saba border. Some Egged and Kavim intercity lines stop at the Ra'anana North interchange (Mechlaf Ra'anana Tzafon) instead.
- Tel Aviv (trips that day): 149 (83), 347 (70), 567 (70), 501 (62), 47 (58), 48 (57), 575 (32), 531 (28), 504 (21).
- Jerusalem: Egged 950 (45 trips, 05:51-22:06, from Ra'anana North interchange). Egged 930 runs a few morning trips (6, 05:41-08:06) from the terminal. There is no direct train.
- Ben Gurion Airport: line 444, 16 trips a day from the terminal, 05:30-20:30.
- Haifa: Egged 921 (38 trips) and 947 (32).
- Herzliya and Kfar Saba: many Metropoline lines run through to both cities, for example 29 (every 12-14 minutes), 9, 31 and 34 to Herzliya, and 1, 10, 12 and 15 to Kfar Saba.
- Inside the city: lines 13, 14 and 17 run all day (about 92-94 trips each). Lines numbered 71-99 also stay in the city but ran only 1-3 times that day.

Shabbat and holidays
Regular buses and trains stop on Friday afternoon and resume on Saturday evening. Ra'anana takes part in Na'im BaSofash (line 723), a free weekend bus between Ra'anana and central Tel Aviv. It runs on Fridays from 17:00 (last departure 02:00) and Saturdays 09:00-18:00, in both directions. In Ra'anana it serves Zarchin, HaTidhar, Weizman (Sports Complex), Ra'anana Park and Ahuza. From Friday 11 September 2026 some stops moved, and the city says frequency drops from hourly in summer time to every 90 minutes in winter time (municipality (opens in a new tab); listing). Ra'anana has an eruv; the Religious Council publishes the eruv map (opens in a new tab).
Taxis
The municipal business directory lists four local taxi companies: Vered, Zemer, Nitzan and Tapuach. See the transport listings.
On foot and by bike
The city lists a bike path with a walking strip along Keren HaYesod and HaPalmach streets to Borochov. The 3.5 km northern bypass promenade (Shimon Peres) links HaDafna St and Derech HaPark, and Shvil Ra'anana is a 16 km loop around the city in eight sections (municipal attractions list (opens in a new tab)).
By car
NBN gives about 20 minutes to Tel Aviv, about 45 minutes to Haifa and about an hour and a half to Jerusalem (NBN (opens in a new tab)). Highway 4 runs along the east of the city and Highway 531 along the south. Ahuza Street is part of Route 541 (Hebrew Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)).
