Ra'anana has all four health funds and plenty of English-speaking doctors, but no hospital of its own and limited urgent care. Knowing where to go at 11pm or on Shabbat before you need it is the point of this page.
Health funds
All four kupot cholim (Clalit, Maccabi, Meuhedet and Leumit) operate in Ra'anana (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Olim are signed up to a kupah at the airport and can switch within 14 days, at the post office (NBN, switching kupot (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). See the health fund branches in the directory.
The nearest hospital
The nearest hospital is Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, a Clalit hospital and the seventh-largest hospital complex in Israel (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה); Wikipedia (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Its emergency room is at 59 Tchernichovsky St, Kfar Saba (Clalit (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). See the listing.
Ra'anana does have Loewenstein, a rehabilitation hospital, at 278 Ahuza (09-7709090) (municipal places map (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
Evenings, nights and Shabbat
NBN notes that local urgent care is limited (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). The options I found:
- Bikur Rofe, Kfar Saba: Sunday-Thursday 17:00-24:00, Friday and holiday eves 14:00-24:00, Shabbat and holidays 09:00-24:00. It has X-ray and IV treatment; phone 09-7455554 (Bikur Rofe (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Listing.
- Emergency medical centre, Herzliya: for adults and children, at 20 Weizman St, Herzliya, tel. 09-9541647. The city lists it on its essential numbers page (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Listing.
- Maccabi women's urgent service: at Ahuza 124, Sunday-Thursday 19:00-21:30 and Friday 08:00-12:30 (Maccabi service guide (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Listing.
I found no Terem in Ra'anana; the nearest are in Netanya and Petah Tikva. In an emergency, call MDA on 101.
Duty pharmacies
Duty pharmacies rotate monthly across Ra'anana, Kfar Saba and Hod HaSharon. Under the Ministry of Health rules the duty pharmacy is open weekdays 19:00-22:00, Shabbat and holiday eves 18:00-22:00, and Shabbat and holidays 10:00-13:00. Outside those hours the pharmacist can be called in for prescription medicines only, for a fee of about NIS 70-100 (municipality, duty pharmacies (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Listing.
English-speaking doctors
Anglo Doctors Israel says it lists only verified English-speaking physicians, and 12 of its profiles practise in Ra'anana (Anglo Doctors Israel (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). They are in the doctors section of the directory, each with a link to its profile. I only show a language for a doctor, dentist or therapist when a source states it.
